First as a couture millinery. His hats graced the covers Vogue and Harpers magazines. His designs were sold in London, Paris and New York.
James then turned his creativity to photography. As well as in books and magazines his work was exhibited in galleries throughout Europe and in New York, becoming one of London's most influential photographers. He created many iconic images.
James now paints from his studio in Dorset. Painting the human form which has been the source of inspiration throughout his diverse life. His mark making is expressive and fluid, whilst retaining the figerative condition.
